'Forgiveness is the scent of the violet on the heel of the shoe that has crushed it.'
I don't know who to attribute that to, but I've always loved it.
I've been thinking about forgiveness today and how it is different from condoning something. A way to move on and release whatever grudge/resentment/anger/negativity is being held so that we can be free. Not always easy of course, but necessary for our own health and sanity, otherwise we are constantly 'drinking the poison meant for others', as they say. The violet quote really opened a door for me in understanding what true forgiveness is.
I like Byron Katie's take on forgiveness too:
'Forgiveness is understanding that what you thought happened, didn't.'
Have you had any lightbulb moments about forgiveness?
