I was in Gloucestershire yesterday and as I drove down through Shropshire and Herefordshire I watched the hedges get greener and the blossom more blossomy (is that a word?). Even just that little bit further south makes a difference.
It was a beautiful Spring day, and on the way back I was enjoying the late afternoon sunlight racing my car along the railway tracks by the road in the same way that a sunset across the sea follows you along the beach... when my line of sight was interrupted by two camels!
Not something one sees every day in North Herefordshire.
The mystery was solved a few seconds later when I came upon Jolly's Circus in a field by the road. I half wish that I hadn't seen it and had been left instead with the wonder about what two camels were doing munching grass along the A49.
I love life's little quirks and I'd already eaten a salad with a teaspoon and seen a shop filled with fairies, so I was quite up for the randomness of roadside grazing camels.
We need a bit of magic and mystery I think.
Do you have anything wonderfully eccentric and random to report?
