Your birds are singing! Ours are still silent...too cold & too early in the season, but when they start...their songs are heavenly.
I've been listening to the sounds in my area...the train & boat whistles, the wind picking up as the warm front moves in (& will move out tomorrow, but we'll enjoy it while we can.) Thursday morning the owl started hooting at 4:45 a.m. It sounded like it was sitting on the bedside stand - not quite, but close - in the tree just outside the bedroom. There was a time when we were so excited to have an owl close, just not at 4:45 in the morning.
I love the sound of owls hooting too, but they would definitely be a loud alarm call that close to the house! Foxes screaming nearby can be pretty loud too but I love living somewhere where I can hear all those things. Are the boat whistles from a river or lake, because I remember you saying you're not near the sea?
no...not near the sea but on a bluff overlooking the ohio river. took awhile to learn to sleep through the train whistles, there's a train bridge almost directly below us. some of the engineers blow the whistle the whole way across the bridge. I guess they think if they have to be awake, so should everyone else!
had an email from Julia from Freda's blog...Barry died this morning. my heart aches for her.
Oh Cathy, mine too, thank you for letting me know about Barry.
