I retrieved it from the dark recesses of the log store, shook off the mouse droppings, unwound the ivy from between the spokes, brushed it off, wiped it down, pumped up the tyres, worked out how to put the chain back on... and rode my bike down the road for the first time since I was ill! It was a wonderful feeling. It might not sound like much but it's a small personal triumph after several years of health issues. A mark of progress made and the next step to getting my body stronger and fitter again. I've never been massively into cycling, as is probably evident by the fact I'm still using the bicycle I had when I was 14! But it feels like freedom and is one of the few things that instantly transports you back to childhood. Hopefully even just cycling around the lanes or down to the shop will be a good way to build up a bit of stamina. Only about half a mile today and a few protesting muscles, but I'm so grateful to have been able to do it. All that walking over the last few months is paying off. Yay! So fingers crossed for some dry days - I suspect I may be a 'fair weather' cyclist! What makes you feel like a child again? You also get to see comical things when you're moving at a slow pace... like this sheep's rear end with wonderful woolly legs and pompom tail!

LOL! Nothing like being mooned by a sheep! Glad you're back on your bike. It's been awhile since I've ridden, but don't they say it all comes back? Going to the playground with grandkids (4 & 7 yrs old) makes me feel like a kid. I get to swing, slide down the sliding board & get on the seesaw...things I'd never do if I weren't with them. We get to jump in puddles, too.

Oh that sounds fun Cathy! Wouldn't it be great if there were playgrounds for adults all over the place too!
